DO YOU HAVE THIS KNOWLEDGE???

I personally hate the smell of
the mosquito coil unless i have no choice but to light it up. Now i have my fan brought all the way from home and my ceiling fan fixed, i definitely will never use a mosquito coil already. It is a chemical smoke and bad for one's health for sure even if you have no knowledge of how it works for a mosquito or even human being. The inhalation of mosquito coil smoke can caused selective damage to the lung and liver. The findings from the present study suggest that exposure to the smoke of mosquito coils can pose significant acute and chronic health risks. For example, burning one mosquito coil would release the same amount of P[M.sub.2.5] man as burning 75-137 cigarettes. The emission of formaldehyde from burning one coil can be as high as that released from burning 51 cigarettes!
Epidemiologic studies have shown that tong-term exposure to mosquito coil smoke can induce asthma and persistent wheeze.
Despite the fact that mosquito coil smoke may have many potential adverse health effects, large populations in developing countries still use mosquito coils in their daily lives.
And despite the test im having on tomorrow(which is actually today already, 17 hours to go), it jsut worth me to post this up on blog so that many of you out there realise that how badly can a mosquito coil affect our health. Did some finding from the net and i really like this, it is written by Jotman:

Just how safe are mosquito coils?

Walk down the main street of any tourist-town in Southern Thailand and you will likely find a mosquito coil smoking away under every table in just about every restaurant. The tourist wonders: is mosquito coil smoke hazardous to my health?
Travelers seem to fall into two camps on this issue. Some worry about it and try to avoid the mosquito coil smoke; others dismiss the health concern, considering the smoky coils a prudent precaution to thwart insects and the serious diseases they may harbor, most notably, dengue fever and malaria.
Jotman investigates.
According to a study by UC Riverside scientists, many mosquito coils – most notably those manufactured in Asia – often contain up to one percent BCME (which stands for bis[cloromethyl]ether, a chemical associated with the breakdown of S-2). BCME has been described as “the most potent lung cancer chemical ever discovered.” And lung cancer is just about the most deadly cancer known. In one Chinese factory where mosquito coils were manufactured, a large fraction of employees were dead within five years of starting their jobs. The cause? Lung cancer.
By contrast, no study of cigarettes has ever found tobacco smoke to pose any where near such a high risk. Put it this way: there is no comparison between cigarettes and mosquito coils. Another study -- one that only considered the amount of "small particulate matter" present in mosquito coil smoke (it did not investigate BCME question) -- found the coils to be about 100 times more hazardous to human health than tobacco smoke.
It is illegal to sell mosquito coils in the United States that contain BCME. Nevertheless, Chinese-made mosquito coils that contain BCME have penetrated the US market in recent years.
What to do about the risks associated with mosquito bites; the very real threat of contracting insect-born diseases like dengue and malaria? Mosquito bites can and should be prevented by each individual taking some basic personal precautions:

1. In the evenings or wherever mosquitoes are prevalent during the day, keep your body covered in light-colored clothing and spray insect repellent onto exposed extremities.
2. At night either sleep under a mosquito net, stay in room with well sealed mosquito screens, or sleep in an air-conditioned room.
3. Remember: malaria-bearing mosquitoes strike in the evening and at night. Dengue-carrying mosquitoes can strike at any time.
Burning a mosquito coil while you sleep is not a good idea. Mind you, this is exactly what Thai TV commercials urge the locals to do: one such advertisement shows a group of smiling Thai kids singing about virtues of mosquito coil smoke. Mosquito coils are a big business in Southeast Asia; companies with ties to corrupt governments are not about to let a real health hazard stand in the way of real profits. Whether you are a local, tourist, traveler, or foreign resident of Southeast Asia, it’s better to think for yourself and not blindly follow this mass-media dictated local custom. For as a UC Riverside research team concluded:
In many situations, it seems likely that the reality of mosquito-borne diseases (Mulla et al. 2001) may dominate determination of hypothetical risk:benefit ratios for mosquito insecticides delivered using devices such as coils. However, if BCME were an important environmental contaminant resulting from burning mosquito coils containing S-2, it would be impossible to maintain use given the well-established carcinogenicity of BCME in humans.
Translation: the risks associated with BCME are so incredibly high that even the contribution mosquito coils make towards stemming the world’s worst tropical diseases would not seem to outweigh the hazard.
My conclusion: Mosquito coil smoke is highly toxic to humans and should be avoided.
Another finding:
Toxic effects of mosquito coil - a mosquito repellent

The physical and chemical properties of the mosquito coil, a commonly used mosquito repellent in Asia and South America, were analysed by the Department of Anatomy, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shatin, NT. The smoke emitted from the burning mosquito coil consists of submicron particles (diameter less than 1 micron) coated with a considerable amount of heavy metals, allethrin and a wide range of organic vapors, such as phenol and o-cresol. Therefore, a lengthy exposure to this smoke will cause adverse effects on the consumers.
for more info: refer to these web site:
p.s.: i never meant to shout at anyone who is using it but so long as your concern about your health and people around you, starts to think about using it the next time you light it up, think about your health, if you have the symptoms I mentioned above, it might probably cause by the mosquito coil smoke.

Day in RECESS

Throughout my fyp 2, i have been spenting much of my time in RECESS besides staying in room. RECESS is really a great place for a researcher, like what Dr Chan said, RECESS is functioning as a platform for students of all level to meet up, work and discuss. You meet bachelor degree students, master students, and even phd students from various country all over the world. One great thing for me is my wonderful supervisor, a rather thoughtful, caring and humble person. Honestly I never met such great person in my life. Lots of difficulties i faced during fyp, thesis, data analysis, but Dato' just calm me down and said everything will be alright. Sometimes we just need this kinda comfort, maybe for me...just all sort of problem i faced.

My cpu was broken down last night and all my data for the testing has completely gone, I was so stunned when i realised that I cant even turn on the cpu. It was a really terrific scenario i ever encountered. Fortunately the next day, Pn Salina, one of the RECESS laboratory helper assists me in changing to a new one, basically approved everything i needa use. (you know, black and white sometimes took a pretty long time to get things done, so i was totally skipped in this step, praise God). Managed to set things down, finally, and wish everything going smoothly. Presentation for the fyp 2 is gonna held in the next 3 weeks already, i have tons of work to complete, am quite tensed up actually.

Took some photos in RECESS today when finished up my works.

Words for you...

Be patient toward all that is unresolved in your heart and try to live the questions themselves as if they were locked room or books written in a very foreign languege.
Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them.
And the point is to live everything. Live the questions now...and perhaps then, you will gradually, without even noticing it, live your way into your answers.

Missing My Old Time In MGSS

Everyone has gone to bed already at this hour...not sleepy so grabbed the prosperity burger from McD and sitting all alone in the living room watching Princess and The Frog, it wasnt too bad, only thing is it has so much of singing part which almost make me fall asleep....somehow, i picked up my phone and starts browsing the net. Open up facebook page and pause at the 'search' column...then a name appeared in my mind: Wendy Chan. Somehow i miss her already. I miss the time when we were working hard decorating the hall during school annual sports day. We were from Yellow house-always the wining team!*proud proud* hehe. There has a brown old grand piano in the hall where we used to play some sentimental song whenever we free and met up especially during sports day. She is very good either in academic or sports. Throughout 5 years in Mgss, she was in first class and was the MGSS's best runner in spring event...we both represented Malacca district in 100m, 200m, 4x100m and so on....and i really miss the time when we trained so hard at the back of the school's field, resting under the huge tree which has over 100 years of history. chatting and sharing thoughts. Though she was 3 years younger than me but we really can mingle round. thought so* lol...cant stand her proud 'heng' sometimes also. Being so smart in studies, so good in piano, so cool in sports, and very pretty some more...of course will be proud a lil right?hah... hope u dont read this!lol you're so perfect to me! and im very proud of you. no doubt. In year 2003 after i left MGSS in form 5, we hardly keep in touch already till oneday when my male friend in form 6 asked me bout the god sister wendy, then only by that we starts keeping up a lil and glad that trough facebook i can know if your doin good by viewing at your photos...

Never forget to mention Grace, my good and favourite friend, lil god sister. lol she can sing pretty good in RAP song! R&B...whatever she is real cool. Michelle is another leng lui in MGSS, most of the MGSSian couldnt speaked very well in mandarin as they were brought up in Eng edu, so thats also the only time we were force to speak in english and you'll get used to it when people laugh at your wrong spoken one or your wrong pronunciation or grammer or whatever and correct it for you. Its embarrassing but somehow you learn and dare not repeat it again. Some of'em even laugh at you so loud like nobody's business. darn!haha...its just some memories of mine back in MGSS.

Dreams

TOok a long nap this afternoon. I dream of a person, the one very close to me, no idea why u appeared in my dream, never thought of you before i sleep as we were too close.....from the moment i fall asleep till the moment i wake, the entire story was all bout me and you. haha...that was funny. my table and bed in the dorm was shift back to the old place which i do not really like it.(It moved itself). When i open the door, find it has another one to open and then i saw a place where it is completely strange, and i shut then open again, there go another scene...you pull me out and said lets see whats the place look like, then we explored...now there were 3 of us...and suddenly you hold my hand, not a tight one but you trying hard not to let it go...we were all alone now and clinging to each other, very sweet....and we went into a museum...its iron bridge museum how cool!...then you kept holding my hand as we walked, its embarrassing but you seems ok with it...and its so warm, my fingers were all freezing. Then we returned to the door, back to the dorm, and i was studying now, you were besides me...and i fall asleep again, you lean your head towards mine, we were so close that i can hear you were listening to Doin' Just Fine.

p.s.: It was so sad that you weren't that thoughtful and sweet in real. In fact, you were too cold towards me that we can hardly have a conversation.

Wish could have that Magic door.

Your the One

Simple and nice...spot the front kitchen?feng shui said its gonna be at the back one so renovate it! lol
Gonna have U in NO time! ouh...a L shape garage can be constructed at the side, must be awesome then! hehe

Doin' Just Fine

1. Had the breakfast there, had the lunch there, had some KFC packed back for dinner, everyone has already in the hall except me, rushed there with my laptop on, all of you were watching me, about 50 of you, listening to me, and couple of days later, some of you met me and called my name, 'hi sinmei' and gave me a strange smile and somehow i felt you treated me the different way as before, I am glad.

2. You choose me instead of her, you need me and we had a good chat at night, I am glad you are here with me. I have to really appreciate this moment.

3. You were sick, I am so sorry I didnt know that. I hope your ok now and I am sure you are.

4. I am sad because you dint know how important you are to me. I hope you will never know, its contradicting.

5. I will be strong and work hard, but I am just lazy.

6. As long as doin' just fine, I will pull through.

Listing

I realised that its been a practice since I came back to campus. Due to my well arranged schedule by the faculty, I've few hours free in the morning, so every early morning, before running for some places; I would sit down infront of my desk and starts listing on the Post-it to make sure I've done the whole activities listed for each day. Its been keeping me well organised and the best and happy moment is when I came back to room, before prepare for the next day...the entire activities have been carried out and no any delay.

Try to list out things before you forget and make sure you carry out each activity, it is really encouraging to see you've accomplished without delaying your works.
